Leptospirosis

Leptospirosis is a bacteria spread by wildlife, in their urine. Since Leptospirosis is also found in water; therefore ponds, lakes, puddles, ravines, etc. are common sources of infection. The prevalence of Leptospirosis increases in times of heavy rain, meaning hurricane season in the Lowcountry brings increased risk of infection. This vaccine was once considered a "lifestyle" vaccine, but with deforestation occurring, and wildlife moving into the suburbs, this Leptospirosis is more often considered a core vaccine.
